About me
“Bringing the soul to the table”
Veronica Felix, a California-based contemporary artist, is celebrated for her innovative approach to sustainable encaustic painting. Her work blends beeswax, gold leaf, and pigments on wood, showcasing her artistic versatility. Equally remarkable are her distinctive ceramics, known for their fantastical forms and striking textures.Originally from Quito, Ecuador, Veronica draws inspiration from the Andes’ luminous colors and rich folklore, infused with the mysticism of Latin American colonial art. Influenced by the spiritual essence of California and the current Zeitgeist, her work fosters a dialogue between nature, tradition, and contemporary expression.
Philosophically, Veronica is stirred by the interplay between beauty and the human soul. Further inspired by the endeavors of her husband, a renowned Silicon Valley AI scientist, she examines contemporary notions of beauty and monstrosity and explores the innate tension between manipulation, authenticity and evolving stereotypes.
With exhibitions spanning Bay Area venues like the de Young Museum and the Institute of Contemporary Art to Cultural Centers in Quito, Veronica embraces every role in her artistic journey — from creator to manager to exhibitor. A recipient of multiple awards and grants, Veronica also finds immense fulfillment in creating inclusive platforms through shows specifically designed for the visually impaired and teaching art to underprivileged young people in the San Jose Area.
Universally appealing, Veronica’s artwork exudes vibrant colors and captivating narratives that enchant both young audiences and sophisticated art lovers who revel in the intricate details of her craft and vision.
